The sun is warm and the mist covers the fields. We have already been over the Fedaia Pass, but have more to look forward to today. We are heading to the Giau Pass when we leave Selva di Cadore. We have the majestic Monte Pore (2405 m) and Monte Averau (2649 m) ahead of us as we ride up to the pass at 2236 meters.

In the beginning we ride in the forest, but the landscape changes and as we approach the highest point the trees give way to green meadows. The road is good and it’s an easy ride. This is a pass for all categories of riders.

On the pass there is a hotel with a restaurant. We take a break and admire the view before we go on to the north and new adventures. The decent starts as the climb ended, over green fields, but we are soon surrounded by the forest and the curves get more demanding.

The Giau Pass offers excellent riding whether you come from the south or the north. The steep mountains of the Dolomites are just impressive. I can recommend hiking in these mountains. The trails are of good quality and well marked and will take you to the highest tops if you want.
